We rarely get to watch any content that is based on the struggles faced by women. Writer-Director Renuka Shahane has beautifully portrayed the story. The story holds true emotions encircling three generations of women. Everything seemed to behave perfectly framed.
Tribhanga - Tedhi Medhi Crazy is basically a story revolving around a family; three women, their struggles, and aspirations. Tanvi Azmi is Nayantara, a renowned writer, and mother of Anuradha. Anuradha aka Kajol, a Bollywood actor-dancer, is as complex and fierce as her mother and also a single mother. Mithali Palkar, who is playing Masha (Anuradha’s daughter), is different from the rest of the women in her family. She is a housewife who is willing to comprise on anything to have the “normal” life that she was deprived of. Or as the maker herself explains through the language of dance: Nayantara is Abhyanga, a slightly mad genius; Masha is Samabhanga, completely balanced; and Anuradha is skewed and weird, she is Tribhanga. A brain stroke that puts Nayantara in a coma then forces the broken family to reunite and deal with their differences.
Tribhanga is one of the best OTT contents of this decade and arguably one of the best of Kajol..
Kajol on her digital debut ascertains her presence as a top-notch actress who is always gonna illuminate the screen be it 70 mm or the telescreen. The finesse with which she spews out the choicest of explicit Hindi to English profanities is bloody natural. Her eyes emote as always. The breakthrough happens when Nayan a celebrated Literary figure slips into a coma while giving a detailed glimpse into her life as Kunal Kapoor as Milan, who is a journalist and ardent fan is writing her autobiography.
The film involves a good portrayal of strong women characters with natural expressions. Effortlessly, it brings out a simple fact of life that every achievement bleeds in silence and life unfolds through both denial and acceptance.
Both Kajol (daughter) and Kunaal Roy Kapoor (autobiographer) did a great job. The recursive loop of the autobiography book cover at the end needs a special mention that probably relates to the circle of life! Highly recommended!
