Great news for the admirers and fans of Fast & Furious! The wait is finally over. The release date for F9 – The Fast Saga film is finally released. The movie will be released in theatres on June 25, 2021.
F9, which is also referred to as or known as Fast & Furious 9, is an upcoming American film that is jam-packed with lots and action sequences. Directed and co-written by Justin Lin with Daniel Casey, the film is the sequel to The Fate of the Furious (2017), the ninth main installment, and the tenth full-length film released overall in the Fast & Furious franchise.
The film will be featured Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Helen Mirren, and Charlize Theron. The most surprising newbie in Fast & Furious 9, will be John Cena, who was said to be portraying an amazing character representation in the ninth part, which ultimately resulted to be the unnoticed brother of Dom, i.e. Jakob. To that, Cena has teased that his character is the "greatest hurdle" that Dom and co have ever faced, while Lin revealed that exploring Dom and Jakob's relationship was "the reason to come back", even though he admits the family theme "has become a drinking game". Apart from this, Charlize Theron has been finalized to resume her villainous role (sans dreadlocks) as Cipher, while Helen Mirren is back too as Shaw's mother Magdalene
F9 was originally set and confirmed for worldwide release in April 2019 but was delayed several times, first due to the release of Hobbs & Shaw (2019), and prospective release of No Time to Die (2021), and then the COVID-19 pandemic. It is now officially scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.
After the happenings that took place in The Fate of the Furious (2017), Dominic Toretto and his family must face Dominic's younger brother Jakob, a deadly assassin, who is working with their old enemy Cipher, and who holds a personal vendetta against Dominic.
With the first trailer came the official synopsis for the ninth movie, which is as follows: "Dom Toretto is leading a quiet life off the grid with Letty and his son, little Brian, but they know that danger always lurks just over their peaceful horizon.
"This time, that threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he's going to save those he loves most.
"His crew joins together to stop a world-shattering plot led by the most skilled assassin and high-performance driver they've ever encountered: a man who also happens to be Dom's forsaken brother, Jakob."
One of the statements says, "It's become clear that it won't be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May. While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration.”
Ludacris confirmed and agreed that he's actually not that downhearted based on the forthcoming end of the franchise as it's gone on longer than he ever dreamed of.
"Personally I thought we were going to end on 10 but I'm not at all sad about it because you got to think about it, I came out in 2 Fast 2 Furious. We never knew we would get a callback from 5, now I've been in 5, 6, 7, 8, 9," he said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. He further added, “And now they're telling me there's going to be two more? I'm happy! To hell with being sad, don't be sad! I'm very happy."
The first trailer for Fast & Furious 9 got released on January 31 and resulted in a couple of huge fans and admirers.
The trailer denoted, that John Cena's villain Jakob is Dom's brother, and then the very end of the trailer revealed that, somehow, Han (Sung Kang) is back. "Nice clubhouse," he says as he normally walks back into Dom's life, and it seems Letty knew that Han was still alive. Kang mentioned that: "It's emotional – it feels like I'm going back to a family reunion. It's a relationship that has been missing in my life since the last Fast."
Han is an "integral character" to the franchise, praised Diesel, who went into the themes behind Han's surprise resurrection. "There's something very special and magical about the Han character," he explained. “When you see the movie you'll feel it, but I believe at the core it's another testament to, not only don't turn your back on the family but don't give up on family. Without giving away the plot, that's the theme: don't give up on family."
Oh and don't believe all those rumors about Ben Stiller's unexpected Fast and Furious 9 cameo. "Reports of my Fast and Furious-ness are greatly exaggerated. Meaning not at all true, sadly. Though I wish them well with the franchise. Fingers crossed it takes off," he joked on Twitter.
